Cassie Jo Calls Back to Classic Country with “Broken at the Crossroads”

Portland-based artist, Cassie Jo, releases her retro-country debut album with BentBeat Productions.

Portland, OR, December 17, 2021 – (pr.com) – Searching radio stations today for country music is often challenging.  It can be difficult to quickly identify modern country stations from any other pop or adult contemporary music.  Cassie Jo’s debut album, “Broken at the Crossroads,” reminds us of days gone past.

Cassie Jo, a Portland native, was raised in a home where music was always a major part of her life.

“Country Music has always been about storytelling, and boy do I have a story to tell," commented Cassie Jo.  “I grew up listening to Bob Seger, AC/DC, and Guns N’ Roses. I transitioned to country during middle school with Reba McEntire, The Chicks, and Shania Twain. More recently, Miranda Lambert and Pistol Annies."

With songs like “She’s Not Loving Him,” “Couldn’t Be You,” and “Give Me Good Reason,” Cassie Jo’s choices on song titles are reminiscent of Country Music’s long history of life’s love and pain.  The album’s single, “Last Star,” features her signature acoustic guitar style and soaring vocal chorus.

"Mom got me my first guitar,” reminisces Cassie Jo, referring to her mother, Reda Bell Stroup. “I memorized the picture chords out of a vintage music book. Even though I was in choir and band, music theory was not my strong suit. I played what sounded good.  Music has pulled me through some rough, bumpy roads.  Releasing this album signifies my healing."

BentBeat Producers Austin Kvalvik and Krista Westfall took the helm to assist Cassie Jo see her vision come to life in the studio.  Enlisting local Oregon artists such as Dustin Rose, playing Bend-made Breedlove acoustic guitars, Paul Harris and Matt Sumner, both on drums and percussion, Maddie Desmond on violin, as well as tapping BentBeat’s owner, Dave Beatty, on acoustic guitar and keyboards.

“The BentBeat Team did a great job taking Cassie Jo through the album she wanted to record,” said Beatty.  “Austin’s electric guitar and Krista’s vocal work was exactly what these songs needed. If I listen (to the album) while closing my eyes, the songs bring back memories of endless hours driving through the Midwest, tuning into AM radio as a youth.”

“Broken at the Crossroads” album is available for sale on Amazon (CD), and is streaming now on Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify and wherever you find great music.

Nathaniel Chapman Pens An Open Letter To The Church On His Album, “Dear Sons And Daughters”

Seattle-based Nathaniel Chapman announces his first album, “Dear Sons And Daughters,” with BentBeat Productions in Portland.

Portland, OR, October 9, 2021 – (pr.com) – Everyone has found ways to cope during the pandemic in different ways.  Some were making banana bread, while others were dancing in front of their smartphone.  Nathaniel Chapman spent his time writing an open letter to the church.

Chapman, who lives in the Seattle suburb of Kirkland, Washington, has been performing in Northwest houses of worship for a number of years as a singer-songwriter.  He shares a challenge for Christ-followers on the “Dear Sons And Daughters” album with the opening, unapologetic track ‘To The Churches.’

“Church should not be a country club,” said Chapman.  “We have a responsibility to be a light to the world, serve our fellow humans, and model how Jesus related to the people he encountered during his ministry here on earth.”

This is Chapman’s second solo album following his 2015’s “From Higher Ground To The Other Side,” and his first album with Portland-based BentBeat Productions.

“We enjoyed his roots-based, Americana-style and found his songs to be thought-provoking with some great story telling,” commented producer Dave Beatty at BentBeat. “His one-man-band style of live performance is compelling and poignant, and we were delighted that he entrusted our team to help him bring these songs to life.”

In addition to Chapman’s vocals and guitar, BentBeat’s house cast of appearing artists included Dustin Rose on guitars and supporting vocals prominent on ‘The Battle,’ Krista Westfall’s vocals featured on ‘Sons Of Thunder And The Daughters Who Dance,’ keyboardist Duane Wagner, father-son duo Paul & Jeff Harris on drums & bass respectively, and introduces Austin Kvalvik as co-producer.  Kvalvik’s vocal contributions and guitar chops are clearly apparent on the single, ‘Run Run Run.’

During production of the album, Chapman and his wife, Rachel, welcomed their first child, Evelyn, into their lives earlier this year.  Mrs. Chapman was originally slated to perform supporting vocal work on the tracks.

“I was really hoping to have Rachel sing with me on the album, but the logistics of getting her and baby to the studio were just too much,” commented Chapman.  “Luckily, with the help of technology, she was able to find a day to record her voice here, close to home.”

BentBeat partner artist He & I, who is also in Seattle area, opened up their project studio to the Chapmans.  “We were very grateful to Damien Blond and his fiancĂ©, Angie West, for opening up their home studio to Nathaniel and Rachel,” said Beatty.  “We were delighted to hear them get to sing together on ‘In Your Brokenness.’”  Blond also provided the piano performance for the song.

“Dear Sons And Daughters” album is available for sale on Amazon (CD), and is streaming now on Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple Music and wherever you find great music.

Dustin Rose Releases a Personal, New Album with the Encouragement to “Overcome” Life’s Hurdles Along the Way

Oregon native, Dustin Rose, releases his newest album, “Overcome,” with BentBeat Productions in Portland.

Portland, OR, August 20, 2021 – (pr.com) – If there is any theme for the last year, it certainly is reflected in the title of Dustin Rose’s most recent album, “Overcome.”

“Overcome” reunites Dustin Rose with keyboard player Tim Downing (Natalie Grant, Danny Gokey), legendary electric guitar player Frank Falbo (Falbo Guitars), and Producer Dave Beatty at BentBeat Productions.

“Dustin approached me in 2019 with the idea for his next album that would cover a lifetime of his stories and the journey it took him on,” said Dave Beatty, owner of BentBeat Productions in Portland, Oregon.  “I was in the car driving back from a long day, and I clicked immediately with the idea.  I was instantly on board.”

The first single from the LP is Carry Me.

“After a nearly sleepless night, I realized that a full day’s work was ahead of me,” said Rose about the Carry Me song. “We’ve all been there. A seemingly impossible task and there is no way around it. Life is filled with struggle. Bringing the Lord into our everyday allows Him to show power in our weakness, grace in our pain, and mercy in our shortcomings. It’s a universal feeling to be frustrated with life.  However, when you hand your troubles over to Jesus, the shared experience is a life incomparable.”

Krista Westfall took her turn in the chair for the first time along with Beatty to co-produce the project.  “When we started work on these great songs in late 2019, I had no idea how many roadblocks the next year would bring and would have to collectively ‘Overcome’ to get it completed,” said Westfall, who also lent her voice to the collection of songs alongside Rose. “In some ways, being isolated for a year did give birth to some great creativity and reflection.”

Overcome” is available now to purchase on Amazon, along with streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, and all music services worldwide.

Dustin Rose Performs at Aurora Colony Vineyards
After a year of COVID-19 shutdowns and quarantines, recording artists like BentBeat’s Dustin Rose are beginning to return to live venues across the Northwest.

Portland, OR, March 30, 2021
– (pr.com) – Finally, some good news for music lovers in the Pacific Northwest:  Live performances are finally starting to emerge after a full year of shutdowns.  With the wide-sweeping public gathering limitations and a year when purchased concert tickets to shows that may or may not ever happen, even COVID-19 can’t stop the music.

“Who would have ever thought that we would be so grateful to go listen to musicians on stage,” said Dave Beatty, owner of BentBeat Productions.  “I know that there are a lot of music fans who are definitely willing and ready to wear masks if it means they could enjoy their favorite artists in person again.”

The pace car of BentBeat’s artist catalog being Dustin Rose, who recently announced that he will be performing regularly at Aurora Colony Vineyards’ Tasting Room on the 3rd Friday of the month, starting on April 16th, 2021.

“Depending on the weather, we may have Dustin out on our patio, or we may have him set up inside our tasting room,” said Kelly Trout, tasting room manager at Aurora Colony Vineyards.  “We love Dustin, and it also a bonus when he brings his wife, Andrea, to sing alongside him.  They are such a great couple and our guests really enjoy having them.”

Dustin is an Oregon native, known on albums for his Northwest-roots.  Among others, his albums “Oregon” and “Catch the Wind” are widely available on all platforms, with a new album due out this spring on the BentBeat recording label.  Wherever Dustin performs, he brings his Bend, Oregon-made Breedlove Guitars performing a wide variety of acoustic songs both from his own catalog and his power-folk versions of radio-favorites from the last fifty years.

“Dustin has such a great tenor (voice), is a master acoustic guitar player, and is very easy to sit and listen to,” elaborated Beatty.  “Especially while sipping a glass of Mountain-Series and enjoying a Cordon Bleu chef-prepared dinner,” smiled Beatty, referring to five of Aurora Colony’s 2018 Pinot Noir wines, each of which are named for a specific Oregon feature, and classically-trained chef Vance Wilson, respectively.

If you plan to experience Dustin Rose perform at Aurora Colony, dinner tickets must be pre-purchased for specific nights.  Tickets are available at Aurora Colony’s Website
